MCI'S WESTERN REGION NETWORK MAMENT CENTER
Alarm Monitoring Procedures
SCANNING ALARMS:
The Network Surveillance Engineer (NSE) is required to scan all
current and new alarms on their HP 1000 screen on a half hourly
basis. ALL new alarms must be prioritized and acted upon
immediately. It is the responsibility of the NSE to respond
to all new alarms and to be sure that all pre-existing alarms
have been acted upon and documented. The Supervisor, Manager
or Senior NSE in charge is responsible for seeing that the scans
are performed on time.
Alarms are also recorded on hardcopy. NEW alarms appear on the
Short Report, which is generated and reviewed every thirty (30)
minutes. ALL outstanding alarms appear on the Long Report, which
is generated and reviewed every forty-five (45) minutes.
RESPONDING TO ALARM:
If a leak is detected at a Terminal, Junction and/or Repeater
site, the Network Surveillance Engineer (NSE) will make the
following phone calls, with twenty (20) minutes between each
escalation:
o Site Manager and Jody Roman
o District Manager
o Director
