MCI'S WESTERN REGION NETWORK MAMENT CENTER <br />Alarm Monitoring Procedures <br />SCANNING ALARMS: <br />The Network Surveillance Engineer (NSE) is required to scan all <br />current and new alarms on their HP 1000 screen on a half hourly <br />basis. ALL new alarms must be prioritized and acted upon <br />immediately. It is the responsibility of the NSE to respond <br />to all new alarms and to be sure that all pre-existing alarms <br />have been acted upon and documented. The Supervisor, Manager <br />or Senior NSE in charge is responsible for seeing that the scans <br />are performed on time. <br />Alarms are also recorded on hardcopy. NEW alarms appear on the <br />Short Report, which is generated and reviewed every thirty (30) <br />minutes. ALL outstanding alarms appear on the Long Report, which <br />is generated and reviewed every forty-five (45) minutes. <br />RESPONDING TO ALARM: <br />If a leak is detected at a Terminal, Junction and/or Repeater <br />site, the Network Surveillance Engineer (NSE) will make the <br />following phone calls, with twenty (20) minutes between each <br />escalation: <br />o Site Manager and Jody Roman <br />o District Manager <br />o Director <br />
