Overfills
Overfills happen when a driver tries to put
too much fuel into the tank and the over-
flow shut-off equipment doesn't work.
Overfill alarms go off when the under-
ground tank is nearly full. It's a warning
that a big problem might happen if
you're not careful.
To prevent overfills
o Know where the alarm and emergency
shut-off button are located.
vnIFIFD
UNIFIED WESTERN GROCERS, INC.
Q Watch or listen for an alarm during the filling of
the underground tank.
Q Take seriously any alarm warning.
o Don't ignore overfill alarms just because you hear
or see them from time to time.
o Alert the truck driver if the alarm goes off.
o Check the fuel level in the tank monitor if you have
one.
Q Report any spills (see last page).
Q Silence the alarm if the driver has the situation
under control.
0 BTA © 2003
