LI RELEASES FROM INTERSTITIAL SPACE OFMIUAL SYSTEMS Upon recognition of a suspected unauthorized release from the primary containment or a breach in the secondary containment, store personnel will notify the Quik Stop Director of Environmental Affairs, Mike Karvelot, at (510) 657-8500. 2. The Director of Environmental Affairs will arrange for a qualified contractor to verify the suspected breach of primary or secondary containment and/or verify proper operation of the monitoring system. Upon confirming the loss of tank system integrity, Regulatory Agencies will be notified, the tank system taken out of service, and product removed from the primary container. 4. The Director of Environmental Affairs will authorize all work necessary under this plan. In the case of a leaking tank, representatives of the tank manufacturer will conduct an inspection to determine if repairable. The most appropriate method to repair any failed product lines will be determined by field conditions. 5. All repairs to the failed tank system will be completed pursuant to the requirements of 23 CCR, Section 2661. Tank repairs, specifically, will be conducted under the direct supervision and approval of the tank manufacturer. A qualified contractor will conduct line repairs. 6. Upon completion of repairs, the tank and product line will be precision tested in accordance with the above regulation. The tank manufacturer will certify the tank for its intended use prior to bringing the tank back into service. 7. Unauthorized releases to the interstitial space between primary and secondary contain- ment will be removed in accordance with procedures specified by the tank manufacturer. The equipment required to accomplish this task will be designated and provided pursuant to the tank manufacturer's recommendation. 8. All hazardous materials and contaminated waste generated by the repair activities will be properly handled, transported, and disposed in accordance with all appropriate State and Local Regulations. 9. The interstitial monitoring system will be activated and certified prior to bringing the UST system back into service.
