SPILL PRZVMTIDN <br />• <br />912094640139 P.20 <br />Flying J Travel Plaza's spill Prevention efforts are divided <br />into two categories - The filling of the underground Storage Tanks <br />and Vehicular spills. <br />A. underground storage Tanks <br />Fuel deliveries are strictly monitored and controlled by management <br />at the facility. , <br />1. The area around each tank is visually inspected <br />regularly by the General Manager for signs of <br />contamination such as: <br />a. oily sheen on standing water <br />b. Discolored soil <br />c. Distressed or dead vegetation <br />2. The access to the underground storage tanks is <br />restricted by locking fill caps. The fill area is <br />in plain view of management and cashiers 24 hours <br />per day. <br />3. Venting capacity is suitable for the fill and <br />withdrawal rates. <br />4. The emergency shut-off switch for the Pumps is <br />located at each cashier position and in the rear of <br />the building. . <br />5. A release during the fueling of the underground <br />storage tanks would be contained from entering <br />navigable waters because the tank farm has been <br />graded so that drainage from this area would flow <br />toward a fuel drain located in the center of the <br />tank farm. Additionally, the tank farm has been <br />recessed approximately six inches so that any spill <br />will be contained. The liquid which enters the <br />drain is carried to the oil/water separator which <br />has a capacity of 2000 gallons. <br />The oil/water separator is inspected regularly to <br />insure that it always has at least a 400 gallon <br />capacity for product. {400 gallons is the largest <br />release that a Flying J Travel Plaza has <br />2-7 <br />
