San Joaquin St.
Stocton, California 95201-2009
Re: Flying J Travel Plaza, Ripon, CA.
•
Dear Mr. Kith:
Please allow this letter as part of the information required for the waist oil holding tank, as per our
telephone conversation you requested that I provide a statement confirming that the oil/water separator
and waist oil holding tank is an enclosed system. Following is a brief explanation of how the mentioned
system will operate as designed.
The system in question is designed to collect run off water from the fueling areas through a trench drain
system manufactured by Poly Drain, from the trench drain run off is diverted through a oil/water separator
consisting of stainless baffles, oil skimmer and "MPak" coalescing plate system manufactured by
Facet International. from the oil/water separator water is then discharged to the municipal storm sewer
system. The oil that is skimmed off the top of the water is gravity fed to the waist oil holding tank through
an enclosed pipe system. The entire system is self operating with the exception of scheduled pumping of
the waist oil tank and daily observations of the oil/water separator. As you can see the described system
is enclosed with the exception of an opening in the waist oil tank used only for pumping and observation,
and openings in the oil water separator for cleaning of the coalescing plates and observation. Also included
with the waist oil holding tank is the tank guard level alarm system previously submitted, and the
hydrostatic monitoring reservoir for continuous leak detection, submitted with this letter.
If you have any questions or if I can be of any assistance please don't hesitate to contact me (801)734-6507.
Best r ar
MeC rist
Wieser Architects
Project Manager
