Julie Jeleti
Lab Coordinator
Nick C DeGroot Water Treatment Plant
South San Joaquin Irrigation District
From:Julie Jeleti
Sent: Wednesday, August 26, 2020 8:36 AM
To: 'Hani Yosif' <hyosif@envres.org>; Charles Galea <cgalea@ssiid.com>
Cc:Justin Ashworth <iashworth@ssiid.com>
Subject: RE: Aqueous Ammonia 19%SDS
Good Morning Hani,
The SDS states "Classified as hazardous waste under Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) (40 CFR 261.22
Corrosive#D002) if disposed of in original form. What if the ammonia was diluted with water while performing the
maintenance once a year? Would this change the original form for disposal purposes?
Thank you,
Julie Jeleti
Lab Coordinator
Nick C DeGroot Water Treatment Plant
South San Joaquin Irrigation District
From: Hani Yosif<hyosif@envres.org>
Sent:Tuesday, August 25, 2020 5:32 PM
To: Charles Galea <cgalea@ssiid.com>;Julie Jeleti <lieleti@ssiid.com>
Cc:Justin Ashworth <iashworth@ssiid.com>
Subject: RE: Aqueous Ammonia 19%SDS
Hello All,
The following is from the California Health and Safety Code section 25110.10:
"(b) Hazardous waste initially collected at a remote site and subsequently transported to a consolidation site, which is
operated by the generator of the hazardous waste, shall be deemed to be generated at the consolidation site for
purposes of this chapter if the generator complies with the notification requirements of subdivision (d) and all of the
following conditions are met:
(1) The hazardous waste is non-RCRA hazardous waste, or the hazardous waste or its management at the
consolidation site is otherwise exempt from, or is not otherwise regulated pursuant to,the federal act..."
According to the SDS for this material, as a waste, it would be regulated as a RCRA hazardous waste with the waste code
D002. Based on that and the citation above, this waste cannot be taken to and managed at a consolidation site. I am
unaware of any exemptions to this unfortunately.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
