AST foundation(describe) concrete sub-floor,Base of AST under UL 142 adequate to withstand the load
of a full tank-Tank is anchored to concrete basement floor.
8. AST anchoring(seismic zone/floatation risk)AST is anchored, with steel flange anchor feet, which are
welded to outer shell of tank, &3/4 in. anchor bolts into the concrete floor, thru the openings provided in the
tanks anchor flanges. Stockton is a(eroundshaking)seismic region, These anchors are intended,to secure the
tank durin a seismic event. There are two scenarios which would create loads upon them. The first scenario
is an empty tank. With an empq tank, the exaansion anchors resist the overturning moment through their
tensile(Pull-out cuipacity. Since the anchors are installed at the Mrimeter of the tank the distance between
anchors in either directionprovides a sufficient lever arm for the concrete anchors to not exceed their
allowablepull-out capacity. The second load case is with a partially. full or full tank. In this scenario because
the liquid fills the bottom of the tank and increases its weight, the ooverning load case becomes the shear
capacity of the concrete expansion anchors In the shear loading, all anchors resist the loads and their
C) allowable capacity is not exceeded. This load case Is conservative in its analysis since it neglects the friction
force created by the weight of the aartially full or full tank. This tank's rear is against the concrete suvvort
structure at the wall, which further acts as a barrier to movement in the event of an earthquake.AST is
