1 . 0 INTRODUCTION
This submittal outlines Aqua Science Engineer's, Inc. (ASE) workplan for a
soil assessment at the Hanson Property located at 7750 Schulte Road in.
Tracy, California (Figures 1 and 2). The intent of this assessment is to
provide the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services
(SJCDPHS) the necessary information to prepare a case closure letter
regarding the underground storage tank (UST) which was formally located
at the site.
2 . 0 BACKGROUND INFORMATION
In May 1995, ASE drilled one soil boring in the location of a former UST
which was removed by others sometime in the past. ASE found n o
evidence of contamination related to the former UST; however, the
SJCDPHS requested that an additional assessment be performed at the site
prior to writing a case closure letter. The purpose of this assessment is to
obtain the information necessary for the SJCDPHS to prepare a case closure
letter.
3 . 0 PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
ASE's proposed scope of work is to:
1 ) Prepare a workplan and health and safety plan for approval by the
SJCDPHS.
2) Obtain a soil boring permit from SJCDPHS.
3 ) Using a hand auger, drill two soil borings in the location of the former
UST. The borings will be drilled to a depth below the bottom of t h e
former UST, estimated to be 8-feet below ground surface. A soil
sample will be collected from the bottom of each boring for analysis.
4) Analyze each soil sample at a CAL-EPA certified analytical laboratory
for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPH-G) by modified EPA
Method 5030/8015, total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-D)
by modified EPA Method 3510/8015, benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene
and total xylenes (collectively known as BTEX) by EPA Method 8020,
fuel oxygenates by modified EPA Method 8260, and total lead by EPA
Method 6010.
5 ) Backfill the borings with neat cement.
Hanson Property Workplan - June 1998
-1 -
