COMMUNITY PROFILE OUTLINE <br /> PRELIMINARY ENDANGERMENT ASSESSMENT <br /> CABRAL-MC ADAMS PROPERTY <br /> APN 115-230-06 and 115-230-07 <br /> 4204 through 4208 North Sutter Street <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Raney Reference No. 1828-092.02 <br /> INTRODUCTION <br /> In accordance with Department of Toxics Substance Control (DTSC) requirements, we <br /> have prepared this Community Profile Outline for the subject project. We understand that <br /> the compiled community information will be used by the DTSC to assess the potential <br /> level of community interest in site assessment and closure, and to determine the <br /> appropriate public participation activities. <br /> SITE/PROJECT DESCRIPTION <br /> Description of the Proposed Project: <br /> For a description of the nature of the project, historical information, known extent of <br /> hazardous substances, and status of the assessment activities, reference is made to our <br /> Workplan-Preliminary Endangerment Assessment(PEA), dated August 8, 2006. <br /> Location and Size of the Site/Project: <br /> The approximate 12.81-acre site is located within an established residential area of <br /> Stockton, San Joaquin County, California. The property is accessed by a private road that <br /> fronts on North Sutter Street, approximately 450 feet to the west, between Fargo Street <br /> and Essex Street. The San Joaquin County Assessor's parcel numbers (APNs) for the <br /> property are 115-230-06 and 115-230-07,which are zoned RL(residential low density). <br /> Surrounding Land Use: <br /> The subject property is bounded by the Calaveras River corridor to the north, by vacant <br /> land and an abandoned cherry orchard to the east, and by a former railroad easement and <br /> residential subdivision property (single-family homes) to the south. The Sierra Christian <br /> Elementary School, the easterly terminus of Fargo Street, and single-family homes are <br /> situated adjacent to and westerly of the subject property. <br /> Community Demographics: <br /> The City of Stockton was incorporated on July 23, 1850 and presently occupies an area of <br /> 60.31 square miles. Stockton is a charter city operating under the council-manager form <br /> of government. Stockton is the 13th largest city in California. Estimated population for <br /> the year 2006 is 286,041. Ethnic composition as of 2000 is roughly 43% Caucasian, 25% <br /> Hispanic, 22% Asian, 9% African American, and 1% American Indian/other. The vast <br /> majority of inhabitants are English-speaking, however, it is expected that a notable <br /> portion of the population is Spanish-speaking. <br />
