After reviewing all applications for completeness
the department is required to transmit all application documents to the CUPA whose
jurisdiction the business or person is located. DTSC has reviewed the application from
Nica Metals, and found it to be complete.
AB 1447 (2007) established certification requirements for appliance recyclers. These materials, known as
Materials that Requires Special Handling (MRSH) may not be disposed of in the
garbage or at a solid waste facility, and include:
• Mercury found in switches and temperature control devices.
• Used oil from compressors and transmissions.
• Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), Hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs),
and other non-CFC replacement refrigerants injected in air-
conditioning/refrigerant units (these may be removed by certified
refrigerant technicians without CAR approval).
• All metal-encased capacitors and any parts that contain encapsulated
polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) or Di-ethylhexylptha late (DEHP).
• Any other material that is a regulated hazardous waste.
® Printed on Recycled Paper
