I gathered the waste from the bench grinder and used a magnet to see if there was any metal contained within, there
was none. That leaves just the dark colored material which I know is remnants of the asphalt that we buffed from some
fasteners that we were reusing. If that is the only content of the byproduct of our use of the bench grinder, I don't think
that any further documentation is necessary on our part as we are allowed to dispose of the asphalt into our dumpster.
If this is still unacceptable then I will opt to discontinue use of the bench grinder as it's benefit would no longer outweigh
the cost.
The approx. 65 one gallon paint cans next to the connex were just samples from past jobs. In almost every case the can
was less than half full. We opened every can to be certain that the contents was as stated end then disposed of them
into the dumpster as we are allowed to do. Since I am here on a full time basis future samples will be stored inside the
building on the mezzanine.
The contents of the portable tote is a product called Citrus Kleen. We use it to clean the working edges of different
equipment that we use. This product is biodegradable and just rinses off with a garden hose. The container that the
product is in does not leak.
Item 104-
Corrected on site.
Item 106-
We have already had one safety meeting in which the rules governing the handling of waste as it pertains to our daily
function was covered. It will no longer be acceptable to store waste of any kind outside the confines of the shop. This
will include containers of any kind with parts that are being soaked. Parts that are being soaked will be cleaned
immediately and stored in a closable container with the byproduct of that process being disposed of into our waste oil
tank. Waste of any kind will be disposed of into it's proper receptacle or tank at the completion of each task.
Item 110 and 113-
Prior to my hire in January of this year, the shop was not staffed on a consistent basis. Without any manifests that could
be produced I can only surmise that oil changes were not being done on site before 2017.That is the earliest manifest
for waste oil or filters that could be found in our office. I can however say that when our next inspection occurs that I
will be in possession of the required documents from that point on. Even with the requirements that I have three years
of records I can't just make stuff up.
Item 301-
Outside oil stains were dealt with on a case by case basis. There were two that required a bit more than just absorbent.
One was underneath chipper C1302,the other was where a transport truck that had an engine oil leak. Both spots had to
be dug by hand but there was a thin covering of asphalt that the stain did not get through. We picked up the soaked
asphalt (which amounted to a cubic foot) and shoveled some clean crushed rock onto both spots. Both spots were a
result of loose pan plugs (both fixed) and the remains were stored in a container for later disposal.
Oil from various containers (inside and outside)were gathered up and the contents of all were determined to be
suitable for the waste oil tank.
The tote listed in this section that was stored in the back of a trailer was in fact Citrus Kleen, the oil that was in the trailer
was a result of transporting some test equipment for setting up a portable processing plant. This oil was cleaned up and
the trailer returned to service.
Remaining pieces of secondary containment were drained and wiped clean.
Item 304-
2
