02 May 2013
AGE-NC Project No. 04-1168
AGE has performed a sensitive receptor survey for the site. Two additional subsurface
investigations are located east of the site with numerous groundwater monitoring wells.
The Crop Production Service and Waterloo Food and Fuel have well locations surrounding
or located on the site.
No sensitive receptors (drinking water wells) are located within the site vicinity appeared
to be threatened by the petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted soil and groundwater at the site.
Three well wells were observed during the sensitive receptor search, one of which was
located at the 2,000 foot search radius. California Water Service Company Well #16 is
located 2,000 feet north of the site and California Water Service Company Well # 75
located approximately 2,000 feet west from the site. Lastly, a San Joaquin County
Community Service well is located 2,000 feet south from the site, at Gianone Park.
Based on AGE's current understanding of the site surrounding area, drinking water is
supplied to the area by the California Water Service Company. Residual soil and
groundwater impact should not negatively affect the current supplied water source.
/ 4.0. ASSESSMENT OF HYDROCARBON-IMPACTED SOIL
/ Between July 2004 and July 2005, three (3) soil borings (131 through B3 and three (3)
groundwater monitoring wells(MW-1 through MW-3)were advanced and/or installed atthe
site as part of a subsurface petroleum hydrocarbon investigation. Analytical results of soil
samples are summarized in Table 1.
To date, a fifteen (15)soil samples were collected at depths ranging from 15 to 70 feet bsg,
and submitted for laboratory analysis of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents. Based on
laboratory analysis of the above referenced soil samples, TPH-g and BTEX impact were
detected in a total of seven (7)soil samples; EDB was detected in one soil sample (132-35)
at a concentration of 0.045 mg/kg. The most significant amount of TPH-g-impacted soil
was encountered beneath the northeastern corner of the former USTs, in the area of
boring 131 and MW-1 (Figures 4 and 5). Historically, TPH-g has been detected at a
maximum concentration of 500 mg/kg (131-25'); BTEX compounds have been detected at
maximum concentrations of 0.017 mg/kg toluene(132-45), 0.017 mg/kg ethylbenzene (82-
45) and 1.19 mg/kg total xylenes (62-35').
4.1. DISTRIBUTION OF PETROLEUM HYDROCARBON IMPACTED SOIL
Based on soil data collected AGE has modeled the lateral and vertical extent of
hydrocarbon-impacted soil in cross sectional and plan views (Figures 4 and 5).
