INTRODUCTION
At the request of Mr.Abelardo Arroyo of Arroyo's Smog Shop,Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
(AGE) has prepared this Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan for the property at 3012 East
Waterloo Road, Stockton, California (the site). This work plan provides the scope of work and
procedures for the proposed installation and development of ground water monitoring wells and the
collection and laboratory analysis of soil and ground water samples. The location of the site is
illustrated on Figure 1. A plan of the site is illustrated on Figure 2.
A limited subsurface investigation was conducted by AGE on 19 July 2004 to determine if petroleum
hydrocarbon impacted soil and/or ground water was present beneath the site. This work plan was
prepared in response to San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(SJCEHD)directive
letters; dated 21 August 2004 and 12 January 2005, for further investigation of the contamination
found on-site. This work plan was prepared in accordance with Appendix A to Tri-Regional
Recommendations - Reporting, dated 30 August 1991, prepared by the Central Valley,Regional
Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) for the investigation of underground storage tanks
(UST) sites.
2.0. BACKGROUND-
The site is located at 3012 East Waterloo Road in an unincorporated portion of San Joaquin County,
California,is situated in an area of mixed commercial, residential and light industrial use.Historical
site usage research performed by AGE has indicated that the property was utilized as a gasoline
service station for approximately 40 years.
2.1. REGIONAL GEOLOGIC/HYDROGEOLOGIC SETTING
' The site is situated within the southern portion of the Great Valley Geomorphic Province of
California, a large, elongate, northwest trending, asymmetric structural trough; the northern and
southern portions of the Province have been designated the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys,
respectively. The Province is bordered by the Coast Ranges to the west, the Klamath Mountains and
Cascade Range to the north, and the Sierra Nevada to the east.
The Great Valley has been filled with sediments derived from both marine and continental sources.
Thickness of the sedimentary fill ranges from thin veneers along the valley edges to more than
20,000 feet in the south central portion of the valley. The sedimentary formations range in age from
Jurassic to Recent, with the older deposits being primarily marine in origin and the younger deposits
being primarily continental. Continental-derived sediments were primarily deposited in lacustrine,
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.'
