There are no boring logs included in t e Report. Boring logs provide lithologic
descriptions, note observations of odor or discola ation to the soil and record instrument
readings, such as a measurement from ahotoioniz tion detector, etector, to perform initial screening
of organic vapors from the soil and to use for comparison with laboratory sample results. The
boring logs are used to create cross sections that include stratigraphy and aid in preparation of
a site conceptual modelitems also not of in the Reportj that can be used to determine and justify
future investigative work proposed.
Please be aware that your site is listed on GeoTracker, the California State Water Resources
Control Board database, and that State regulations require after January 1, 2005, all chemical
analytical results for soil, groundwater and vapor be submitted electronically to GeoTracker. In
addition, the latitude, longitude and elevation of permanent monitoring points, groundwater
elevations, site maps, boring logs and reports must b electronically submitted to GeoTracker.
A site map that shows roadways, buildings and boring locations was not included in the Report.
An accurate, scaled site map must be prepared andsubmitted to GeoTracker and the chemical
analytical results must also be submitted to GeoTracker. If accurate boring logs can be
prepared for the borings already advanced on your sit , they must be submitted to GeoTracker
as well. The Report submitted to EHD should not be submitted to GeoTracker since the EHD
cannot receive it as acceptable for public review with the discrepancies described above.
In summary, the EHD cannot accept this Report, because of discrepancies within the Report
and with the EHD information noted during performance of the work. Work at this site and
reports on the work must be performed under the direction of an appropriately California
registered or certified professional and it is not clear that Thomas Ballard was in responsible
charge of the work or preparation of the report. The E HD directs you to have all the laboratory
data and a site map submitted to GeoTracker by July 10, 2008. In addition, you should have
your consultant, under the direction of an appropriately California registered or certified
professional review the work performed and prepare an accurate report that contains
information discussed in the Tri-Regional Guidelines and this letter. This report should be
submitted to the EHD by August 1, 2008, with a work plan for additional investigation that is
justified by the site conceptual model presented in the report.
If you have any questions, contact me at {209} 468-3449.
Margaret Lagorio, RE S
Program Coordinator
c: Jim Barton, CVRWQC13
Guy Roy, Environeering, Inc., PO Box 2498, Danville, CA, 94526
Thomas Ballard, 8036 Red Fern Ct., Antelope, CA 95843
George Dunfield, Board for Geologists and Geophysicists, 1625 N.
