MODIFIED WORK PLAN
FOR
PHASE II ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT
AT
AMERICAN SAVINGS BANK
TRACY BRANCH
150 WEST 10TH STREET
TRACY, CALIFORNIA
CRC Environmental Risk Management, Inc. (CRC) proposes performing a subsurface
investigation at the American Savings Bank (ASB) Tracy Branch located at 150 West 10th Street,
Tracy, California (see Topography and Site Location Map). The purpose of this investigation is
to determine if the soil at the subject property has been impacted by, tetrachloroethene (PCE),
trichloroethene (TCE) and other solvents used in the on-site dry cleaning operations dating back
to 1947. The proposed investigation will be accomplished by soil coring by Geoprobe method.
The investigation will also confirm by geophysical survey the presence of Underground Storage
Tanks (USTs) in the subject property. The site specific tasks of the Work Plan will consist of
the following:
SCOPE OF WORK
PERMITTING
A permit for the subsurface environmental investigation will be obtained in accordance with the
requirements of the San Joaquin County and/or local government regulatory agency.
WORK SCHEDULE
CRC will schedule the field work in April 1995. The coring and sampling is anticipated to be
completed within one day. The coring will be performed by Western Strata Exploration, Inc.
(WESTEX), of Sacramento, California.
UTILITY SURVEYINOTIFICATION
CRC will notify Underground Service Alert (USA/Dig Alert) forty-eight (48) hours before the
scheduled start of the field work. A geophysical survey using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
and electromagnetic methods will be conducted prior to the start of drilling/coring in order to
locate potential underground utility lines, USTs and associated piping, if any. CRC observed
documentation indicating the presence of USTs on the subject property in the past. Since it is
not known whether the solvent cleaning USTs have been removed or not, a geophysical survey
will be conducted to investigate the presence of USTs. The geophysical survey will be performed
by Norcal Geophysical Consultants, Inc. (NORCAL) of Petaluma, California.
CRC Environmental Risk Management, Inc.
