INTRODUCTION
PG&E's Thornton Gas Dehydrator Station is located in San Joaquin County approximately 4 miles north of
Thornton, east of the intersection of County Road J8 and Barber Road (Figure 1). The dehydrator station
is used by PG&E's Gas Production and Storage Department for removing production fluids from natural gas
in the pipeline. Petroleum hydrocarbons may have impacted the subsurface soils as a result of the gas
dehydration operations at the project site. TES Land and Water Quality Unit has prepared this workplan to
assess the presence or absence of petroleum hydrocarbons in the shallow subsurface soils in the immediate
vicinity of the site. This workplan includes a description of the methods which will be used during all field
activities. A site specific Health and Safety Plan is also included for the protection of on-site workers and
the neighboring public. This workplan has been prepared at the request of Mr. E. Lee of PG&E's Gas
Production and Storage Department.
cca/9-23-92/8809a/JAWP12 1
