LIMITED SITE INVESTIGATION PROPOSED LOVE'S TRAVEL STOP INTERSECTION OF INTERSTATE HIGHWAY 5 AND STATE HIGHWAY 12 LODI, CALIFORNIA Terracon Project No. 60117009 April 15, 2011 1.0 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Site Description Site Name Proposed Love's Travel Stop Site Location/Address Lodi, California The site is currently a vacant plot of land with vineyards. Proposed improvements include a one-story building with a proposed footprint of approximately 10,000 to 15,000 square General Site Description feet, surrounded by concrete and asphalt pavements. An underground storage tank system will be installed west of the north end of the truck fuel dispensing islands. A topographic map is included as Figure 1 and a site plan is included as Figure 2 of Appendix A. 1.2 Scope of Work Terracon conducted a Limited Site Investigation (LSI) at the Proposed Love's Travel Stops at the intersection of Interstate Highway 5 (1 5) and State Highway 12 (CA 12) in Lodi, California. At your request, Terracon's LSI was undertaken in response to the results of Terracon's Geotechnical Report (Report No. 67115005) dated March 12, 2011 which included a limited soil and groundwater environmental investigation to assess baseline conditions in the area of the proposed underground storage tank (UST) system. This baseline investigation reported a low groundwater concentration of total xylenes (at 0.174 milligrams per liter [mg/L]) in the groundwater sample collected from former geotechnical bring B-11. The objective of the LSI is to evaluate and confirm the presence of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX), methyl-tert-butyl ether (MTBE), and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) above relevant laboratory reporting limits in the on-site soil and groundwater in the vicinity of former geotechnical boring B-11 as a result of the xylenes concentration reported during Terracon's geotechnical investigation.
