Methicillin - Resistant Staph ( MRSA) <br /> • Caused by a bacteria Staphylococcus aureus <br /> that is resistant to a family of common <br /> antibiotics <br /> • Infection is spread by contact-can live on <br /> surfaces for a long time <br /> • Infection can resemble insect or spider bites . <br /> Symptoms include redness, warmth, swelling, <br /> boils or blisters <br /> • Infections are identified by taking a culture <br /> swab <br /> • If not controlled, serious complications, such <br /> as pneumonia, blood and joint infections, and <br /> death can occur <br />
