POLICY <br /> To insure awareness and protect the health and safety of all persons directly <br /> involved in the handling and disposal of bio-hazardous waste. <br /> To insure that there is minimal risk of transmission of infectious diseases to <br /> clients,staff,the public and the environment from bio-hazardous waste and <br /> to comply with all State of-California regulations on disposal of bio-hazardous <br /> waste. <br /> 2. PURPOSE <br /> All persons performing-Permanent Cosmetics must attend a Hazardous <br /> Communication Program to increase knowledge of guidelines for identifying, <br /> and disposing of regulated medical wastes that qualifies as bio-hazardous <br /> waste and to institute methods of handling bio-hazardous waste to prevent <br /> infection in facility and community. <br /> 3. PROCEDURE <br /> A. SHARPS DISPOSAL containers must be portable to ensure waste container <br /> is within arm's reach of the practitioner. Sharps waste container should <br /> be labeled "Sharps Waste"with the international symbol or <br /> "BIOHAZARD". Sharps containers must be closed, leak proof, <br /> puncture proof and are usually red. <br /> Methods of Removal and Disposal of all sharps waste produced during the <br /> process of Permanent cosmetic application: <br /> a. Removal and disposal by a company or removal and transportation <br /> through a mail-back system approved by OSHA. <br />
