Include barriers provided to prevent cross
contamination. Describe how the procedure site is prepared for a body art procedure.
Before touching any item in a workstation or procedure area that will be used during a
tattoo or piercing or in the cleaning room is touched,we wash our hands then apply hand
sanitizer. All items mentioned in the above paragraph except inks and pigments are
covered with a new protective barrier before each tattoo or piercing to prevent cross
contamination. Each barrier is removed and the procedure site is sprayed with a cide and
allowed to soak for 3-5 minutes before being wiped down. Each procedure room has its
own garbage can and all waste created in that procedure room goes in its own garbage
can. Inks and Pigments are kept in separate closed containers in each procedure area and
not exposed to open environments. When setting up for a tattoo, a certain amount of ink
is placed into an ink cap and then the bottle is placed back into the container before the
tattoo is started. The barriers used to prevent cross contamination are stretcher sheets,
dental bibs, machine bags, clip cord covers, power supply bags, and cling wrap. Soap and
water mixing takes place in a separate room from the procedure area. Large containers of
soap are kept in a room separate from the workstation. Small squeeze bottles with soap
and water mixes that are used during a tattoo are kept at each workstation and wrapped
with barrier film or plastic bag before each tattoo.
F. Sharps Containers: Describe the procedures for the safe handling of sharps and
indicate the location of the sharps containers.Indicate disposal frequency for sharps
waste.
After each tattoo or piercing, all sharps are immediately placed into the sharps
container with the tip of the needle facing away from the artist and client. Each procedure
room has a wall mounted sharps container in it. The disposal frequency will vary. Once
the sharps containers are full, they are disposed of within 30 days by a medical waste
hauler.
G.
