EFFECTIVE DATE <br />ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES 9/91 <br />TITLE :PAGE NUMBER <br />1 of 3 <br />REVISION DATE <br />SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT 9/91 <br />PURPOSE: To provide a Environmental Service Department Procedure outlining <br />the storage and disposal of solid wastes, the maintenance of solid <br />waste containers and disposal of infectious waste. <br />1. STORAGE AND.DISPOSAL OF SOLID WASTES:... <br />(a) All solid wastes except infectious wastes, syringes and needles <br />will be stored and disposed of in the following manner: <br />(1) Solid wastes generated in all meas of the Medical Office <br />will.be placed in waste receptacles.lined with plastic liners, <br />Environmental Service Aides will collect all plastic liners <br />from receptacles, tie off all liners, and transport to <br />temporary:moveable storage bins to await further transporting <br />to the San -1 -Pak Compactor Sterilizer or a metal bulk trash <br />. container. <br />(2) Kaiser Permanente .Medical Office is operating .under a:contract <br />with the Stockton Scavenger Association, Inc., 1246 Navy Drive, <br />Stockton providing_a pick-up.and disposal service for all solid . <br />wastes generated. The portable packer is regularly picked up <br />on a scheduled basis. Solid wastes are transported to the City <br />of Stockton Landfill, on Austin Road, where they bury the solid <br />waste: <br />2. SOLID.WASTE CONTAINERS: <br />(a) All moveable bins are hosed out as needed, a germicidal detergent <br />should'be used weekly.. If trash.is carried loose in container it <br />must.be cleaned after each use. <br />(b) The portable compactor and metal bulk trash containers have tight <br />fitting covers, are leakproof, and rodent proof. They are washed <br />..out at.the solid waster transfer.point by the Stockton Scavenger <br />Association, Inc., :after.each.dumping: <br />(c) All bins and containers are washed and/or sanitized more frequently <br />if required. <br />01179-105 (12-89) <br />
