Human dialysis waste materials including arterial lines and <br />dialysate membranes. <br />5. Equipment, instruments, utensils, or any other material which <br />is likely to transmit etiologic agents. <br />- Needles/Sharps <br />- Disposable sharp instruments <br />- Pleur-evacs <br />- Suction Cannisters-Those with visible blood in fluid <br />Those from respiratory isolation <br />- Wet dressings <br />- All trash from O.R. suites, labor and delivery rooms and <br />Emergency patient treatment rooms. <br />6. Any other -material which the infection control staff <br />determines is likely to transmit etiologic agents or presents. <br />a significant danger of infection. <br />AND DISPOSAL OF INFECTIOUS MASTE MATERIAL <br />.Procedure <br />1. WEAR GLOVES when handling all infectious waste materials. <br />2. Wrap in double red bags at site of origin -and place in a covered <br />container. <br />3. Place in a covered infectious waste transport cart and take to the <br />infectious waste bin at the rear of the hospital. THE DOOR TO <br />INFECTIOUS WASTE STORAGE BIN IS TO REMAIN LOCKED AT ALL TIMES <br />(except when opened to deposit waste material). Any failure by <br />housekeeping personnel -to see that the door is locked and secure <br />before leaving the -area will result in DISCIPLINARY ACTION. <br />4. Wash transport carts weekly with Quatermary Ammonia solution (400 <br />ppm, active agent). <br />5. Line the infectious waste cart with a clean bag and dispose at the <br />end of each shift. <br />6. Broken bagsāif for a:ny reason a bag containing infectious waste <br />material is broken and spillage occurs: DON PROTECTIVE GARMENTS and <br />IMMEDIATELY pick up waste material, REBAG, and SCRUB floor with <br />Quatermary Ammonia solution. <br />filename: waste.man <br />LC 6s3sayo" <br />LSA 0 owm <br />
