POLICY <br />A. For the management of medical waste generated by Lodi Memorial Hospital, and all facilities operated <br />by the Hospital, and complies with the California Medical Waste Management Act, Department of <br />Health Services, Health and Safety Code Sections 117600-118360. The information provided on the <br />Medical Waste Management Plan (MWMP) is complete and accurate. <br />B.. Lodi Memorial Hospital accepts no medical waste from any other facility and is registered as a Lame <br />Quantity Generator. <br />To identify processes involved in the Medical Waste Management Plan and to comply with the California <br />Medical Waste Management Act, Department of Health Services, Health and Safety Code Sections 117600- <br />118360. <br />A. Medical waste is removed from the facilities by a registered medical hauler and treated at an approved <br />off-site treatment facility. The following is a representation of estimated total pounds of medical <br />waste removed during a monthly period from each facility: <br />• West Facility ........................................597 pounds/month <br />• Main Facility 9,192 " <br />• Conrad Building ..................................2,400 <br />• All Clinic Facilities.................................50 " <br />1. Lodi Memorial Hospital does not generate Pathology Waste. All human anatomical parts, <br />surgery specimens and tissue are transferred from the hospital by Smith -Kline Laboratories for <br />analysis by Delta Pathology Associates, 2291 W. March Lane, Ste #179, Stockton, CA <br />95207. <br />a. After final processing, the specimens become waste and are the responsibility of Delta <br />Pathology Associates. <br />B. LIMITED QUANTITY HAULING EXEMPTION <br />Staff in approved patient care areas such as Home Health Agency, Laboratory Services, Clinic <br />Services, etc., that provide extended health care services outside the confines of the hospital facility, <br />are authorized to provide limited hauling of small quantities of medical waste back to a designated <br />facility for disposal. <br />1. The current list of authorized personnel is on file with copies of authorization provided to the <br />individual staff member. Procedures for final disposal of this medical waste fall into the same <br />categories as those in place within the facility itself. <br />a.
