These wastes result from patient diagnosis or treatment where blood <br /> and certain body fluids or other contaminates exist. Trauma scene waste may be collected at times when ambulance <br /> service providers and other emergency responders deliver patients for medical attention. <br /> BIOZARDOUS WASTE: <br /> • Blood or Body Fluids <br /> Fluid blood or body fluids or items contaminated with blood including containers or discarded <br /> equipment containing fluid blood and all materials contaminated with body waste, secretions or <br /> vomitus where blood is recognized. <br /> • Isolation Waste <br /> Waste contaminated with excretion, exudate, or secretions from humans who are isolated due to highly <br /> communicable diseases. <br /> • Trauma Scene Waste <br /> Waste that may be collected at times when ambulance service providers and other emergency <br /> responders deliver patients for medical attention. <br /> • Patholoey Waste—Lodi Memorial Hospital does not generate pathology waste. <br /> All human anatomical parts, surgery specimens and tissue. <br /> SHARPS WASTE: <br /> Syringes,needles,blades,and broken glass. <br /> PHARMACEUTICAL WASTE: <br /> Waste medications whether partial dose vials or any and all such waste that contains medications with the <br /> exception of chemotherapeutics. <br /> • Chemotheraueutic Waste <br /> Trace amounts of chemotherapeutic waste. <br /> REVISED: 11/04,7/06,4/07 <br /> REVIEWED: 5/10 <br /> L:\LMH\P&P\EOC\D-MEDICAL WASTE\D-8420-05.doc <br />
