Empty Ethylene Oxide Cartridges used in sterilizer; placed in <br />plastic bag and disposed of by housekeeping into the enclosed <br />Blackwelder Compactor, as soon as possible. <br />5. Sharps: <br />a. From Surgery; all are placed into sealed plastic containers then <br />placed into plastic bags with regular waste. Infectious waste is <br />is placed in double plastic bags, marked "contaminated". <br />Waste is collected as soon as possible and placed into the <br />enclosed Blackwelder Compactor. <br />b. From other areas of the hospital_; sharps are placed into enclosed <br />plastic or corrogated cardboard containers, sealed, and then <br />taken by Housekeeping to the encolsed Blackwelder Compactor, <br />immediately. <br />6. The Compactor is picked up by the California Solid Waste Removal <br />Company of Lodi and taken to the County dump where the waste is <br />buried in accord with all regulations of the San Joaquin Local <br />Health District.
