L7 <br />LODI MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Page 1 of 1 <br />Environmental Service Department 84440 <br />Waste Sterilizer Biologic Testing Effective: 9/96 <br />Waste Sterilizer Biologic Testing <br />POLICY: It is the policy of Lodi Memorial Hospital to render infectious waste <br />to a sterile state prior to disposal in the solid waste compactor and per <br />Health and Safety Code. <br />1. Special Instructions <br />A. The biological indicator will be place at the center of a load in a <br />plain white envelope ( so it's more easily found) and processed <br />under normal operating conditions. <br />B. This will be done monthly. <br />C. When the indicator is removed after the cycle is completed it will <br />be delivered to the Lab and they will place it according to procedure <br />into the incubator and document all results. <br />D. Copies of results will be sent to the Environmental Service Office. <br />E. The Log will remain in the Lab. <br />
