Empty Ethylene Oxide Cartridges used in sterilizer; placed in <br />plastic bag and disposed of by housekeeping into the enclosed <br />compactor, as soon as possible. <br />5. Sharps: <br />a. From Surgery; all are placed into sealed plastic containers then <br />placed into plastic bags with. regular waste. Infectious waste is <br />placed in double plastic bags, marked "contaminated". Waste <br />is collected as soon as possible and placed into the compactor. <br />b. From other areas of the hospital; sharps are placed into enclosed <br />plastic or corrogated cardboard containers, sealed, and then <br />taken by housekeeping to the enclosed compactor, immediately. <br />6. The compactor is picked up by the California Solid Waste Removal <br />Company of Lodi and taken to the County dump where the waste is buried <br />in accord with. all regulations of the San Joaquin Local Health District. <br />The compactor is then cleaned and sanitized before returning to <br />Lodi Memorial Hospital. <br />9 <br />Caro ine Stfou ,RN <br />Quality Assurance Coordinator <br />
