The designated accumulation area is not secured or marked with proper signage. <br /> -A designated accumulation area shall be secured by use of locks on entry doors, gates, or receptacle lids and marked with <br /> warning sign, "CAUTION—BIOHAZARDOUS WASTE STORAGE AREA—UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT", in <br /> English and in another language determined to be appropriate by the infectious control staff or LEA. HSC118310 -The <br /> outside storage area (Central Plant)was not secure (see attachment, PHOTO 14). Properly secure the outside <br /> storage area. <br /> 31. Eating and drinking in prohibited areas. <br /> Eating, drinking, smoking, applying cosmetics or lip balm, and handling contact lenses are prohibited in work areas where <br /> there is a reasonable likelihood of occupational exposure. 8 CCR § 5193 (d) (3) (b) (9) <br /> A clean room with a wall mounted sharps container has been repurposed as a breakroom (see attachment, PHOTO 5). <br /> Either remove all medical waste containers and properly decommission the clean room or cease eating and drinking <br /> in prohibited areas. Submit evidence of correction to the EHD. <br /> 31. Food and drink in prohibited areas. <br /> Food and drink shall not be kept in refrigerators, freezers, shelves, cabinets or on countertops or benchtops where blood or <br /> OPIM are present. 8 CCR § 5193 (d) (3) (b) (10) <br /> A refrigerator for employee food and an open bag of popcorn were located in the outside storage area (Central Plant) <br /> (see attachment, PHOTO 18& PHOT019). Remove prohibited items. Submit evidence of correction to the EHD. <br /> Correct all violations prior to February 3, 2020. Provide all corrections to the EHD. <br /> NOTES: <br /> 1. There is a concern that pharmaceutical waste are being placed into the sharps waste container by staff. It is <br /> recommended that training be provided to all staff consisting of the proper segregation of waste. <br /> 2. The tracking records were available for review. <br /> 3. The"Medical Guarded Unit"was not inspected due to not having a clearance from Deuel Vocational <br /> Institute. A clearance will be obtained for next year's inspection. <br /> 4. The housekeeping closet located in Clinic 6 has a biohazardous label on the door,staff is unaware if the <br /> closet is used for biohazardous waste. Remove the biohazardous label from the door if the closet is not used <br /> for biohazardous waste. <br /> Reinspecion on/about: A reinspection fee of$152 per hour may be charged.
