Pharmaceutical Waste <br />Index No. RX 80.25.00 <br />4. Pharmaceutical Waste stored in the biomedical waste storage area shall be <br />checked for its integrity. If a package is found not to be intact, the Environmental <br />Services Manager shall be contacted. <br />5. In the event of spillage during transportation throughout the complex or in the <br />storage area, the Environmental Services Manager shall coordinate with the <br />Hazardous Materials and Waste Management Coordinator for direction on <br />cleanup, repackaging, and disposal. <br />6. A report must be made in writing and forwarded to the Hazardous Waste <br />Coordinator within 24 hours. <br />7. The containers and/or carts will be cleaned according to the manufacturer's <br />procedures. <br />C. Disposal / Treatment of Pharmaceutical Waste <br />1. Pharmaceutical waste will be placed into the Department of Transportation (DOT) <br />storage container supplied by the contracted licensed waste hauler. <br />2. For this facility Pharmaceutical waste will be picked up and hauled off by the <br />waste hauler. <br />a. Every 90 days. <br />3. The waste hauler will supply the facility with tracking documents that keep the <br />facility informed of the poundage on a monthly basis. (All records will be <br />maintained for 3 years.) <br />4. The pharmaceutical waste is hauled and treated as follows: <br />D. Spill Response <br />1. Notify immediate supervisor and the Hazardous Materials Coordinator in the <br />event of a spill of pharmaceutical waste.
