Medical Waste <br />Medical waste is defined as: <br />l.) Sharps- Syringes, needles, blades, broken glass, etc. contained in sharps <br />containers pursuant to Sec 118285. <br />2.) Blood or Body Fluids- articles contaminated with dried blood elements or other <br />dried body fluids or exudates i.e. bandages, wound dressings, bed sheets. <br />3.) Pharmaceuticals: Discontinued, or used medications <br />Biohazard Labeling <br />All biohazard labels: <br />1.) All biohazard storage containers will have a 'Red Biohazard" sticker on them <br />designating them biohazard only. <br />2.) Doorways into Utility rooms will have the Biohazard symbol with a warning sign <br />in English (Biohazard waste storage area unauthorized keep out) and in Spanish <br />(Zona de residous biologicos peligrosos prohbida la entrada a personas no <br />autorizados). <br />
