The laundry chute will be cleaned and disinfected monthly (if <br />applicable.) <br />ISOLATION LINEN <br />Isolation linen will be sent to the laundry in identificable <br />double bags. The inner bag must be a sealed "meltaway" (water <br />soluble) base. The outer must be sealed plastic. If laundry is <br />from strict isolation, it will be so identified. The laundry <br />workers iwll have the following duties in handling this material: <br />1. Put on a -long sleeved gown and pair of disposable gloves. If <br />laundry is from strict isolation, a mask is to be worn. <br />2. Un -tie plastic bag. <br />3. Holding the plastic bag (there may be two if linen comes from <br />strict isolation), dump the contents into the washing machine <br />and make sure nothing comes in contact with the "meltaway" <br />bag. <br />4. Place the contaminated laundry bag into red infectious waste <br />bag. <br />5. Remove gown andlace it in the <br />P washing machine with other <br />isolation linen, without touching outside of gown. <br />6. Remove gloves and place in red bag. Remove mask if worn and <br />place in red bag. <br />7. Wash hands. <br />8. Go back to the washing machine and start the washing <br />procedure. Do not touch anything until you have removed your <br />gown and gloves and washed your hands. <br />9. Tie -off outer red infectious waste bag in which isolation <br />linen bag, gloves and mark (if worn) have been placed and <br />place it in the infectious waste disposal area. <br />10.
