The term container, when <br /> describing the packaging requirements, does not include items <br /> that are regulated medical waste. <br /> Decontamination The process of reducing or eliminating the presence of harmful <br /> substances, such as infectious agents, so as to reduce the likeli- <br /> hood of disease transmission from those substances. <br /> Destination Facility The disposal facility, the incineration facility, or the facility that <br /> both treats and destroys regulated medical waste to which medical <br /> wastes are shipped. <br /> Destroyed Regulated Medical Regulated medical waste that has been ruined, torn apart, or <br /> Waste mutilated through processes such as thermal treatment, melting, <br /> shredding, grinding, tearing, or breaking, so that it is no longer <br /> Cr <br /> enerally recognizable as medical waste, but has not vet been <br /> treated.
