The Medical Waste Management Act sets forth specific requirements <br />regarding the handling, treatment and disposal of medical waste. The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors <br />designated Public Health Services -Environmental Health Division CPHS EHD) as the local enforcement agency for the Act <br />on August 27, 1991. <br />The new law applies to all generators of medical waste, however, only medical waste generators or fadlities flu& <br />onsite treatment of medical waste and/or generate 200 pounds or more of medxml waste per month am required <br />HS -EH <br />register with PD and pay a permit fee. After lreviewing the information packet those required to register with PHS EHD are reques <br />to return all registration and application forms to this office by OckAier 15, 1991. <br />At the same time, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division, is proposing to adjust 199 <br />1992 Environmental Health Permit Fees in the Medical Waste Management Program due to the enactment of <br />California Medical Waste Management Act <br />q <br />u <br />ue <br />w <br />s <br />tc <br />.t 199 <br />0 f I <br />ti <br />Environmental Health Division staff will meet with the San Joaquin County medical community to hold a fee workshc <br />to discuss proposed Medical Waste Management Program permit fees. The Medical Waste Management Program F4 <br />Worimhop will be beld on Odober 2, 1991, at 3:30 PJAL, in the Errvhonment3l Health Division Colixftrence Rom # <br />located at 445 North San Joaqwn Street Stockbomi, California. <br />This workshop will introduce proposed changes in permit fees and will provide the medical communilty an opportuni <br />to comment on the proposed revisions.
