Immediately after use, sharps shall be disposed of in closable, puncture resistant, dis: containers which are leakproof on the sides and bottom and that arc labeled or coi coded. A. These containers shall be easily accessible to personnel and located in the immc area of use. B. These containers shall be replaced routinely and not allowed to overfill. 3.- Laundry that is contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious materials or contain contaminated sharps shall be treated as if it were contaminated and shall b handled as little as possible and with a minimum of agitation. A. Contaminated laundry shall be bagged at the location where it was used and sr:: not be sorted or rinsed in patient care areas. B. Contaminated laundry shall be placed and transported in bags that are labeled =:; color coded. Whenever this laundry is wet and presents the potential for soak - through or leakage from the bag, it shall be placed and transported in leakpro{ bags. C. The employer shall ensure that laundry workers wear protective gloves and othr appropriate personal protective equipment to prevent occupational exposure durir handling or sorting. EMPLOYEE INFORMATION AND TRAINING 1. Employers shall ensure that all employees with occupational exposure participate in a training program. 2. Training shall be provided at the time of initial employment and at least. annually thereafter. 3. Material appropriate to content and vocabulary to educational level, literacy and lang: background of employees shall be used. b ' 4. The training program shall contain the following elements. A. A general explanation of the epidemiology and symptoms of bloodborne diseases; B. An explanation of the modes of transmissions of bloodborne pathogens; C. An explanation of the employer's infection control program; D.
