All parts shall be <br />deposited inheavy duty cardboard boxes, either red in <br />color orlabeled in red and marked as contaminated <br />waste. These boxes are located . <br />When full, the boxes shall be sealed with tape and de .on' <br />ited in the infectious waste container in theftokud <br />infectious waste area. <br />B. Other Infectious or Contaminated Waste <br />l. Definition: <br />Swabs, dressings, catheters, nasogastric and enema tubing, gloves orany item of disposable <br />nature that comes in contact with the patient's body secretions would be classified as <br />infectious or contaminated waste. <br />2. Equipment: <br />Whenever duty plastic bags shall be utilized. If these any not available, u <br />heavy duty plastic bag labeled in red as infectious or contaminated <br />waste shall beacceptable. <br />3. Procedure for Disposal: <br />a <br />During treatments all contaminated waste shall be put into individual plastic bags; the <br />plastic bags shall be deposited in the plastic bag attached tothe treatment cart. Following <br />completion of treatments, the treatment cart bag shall be taken to <br />infectious waste container <br />for later disposal. <br />7-04A ft 1�14 It IL <br />For infectious Orcontaminated waste, an infectious waste container lined with ap|asbc <br />bag and properly labeled When the container is <br />reasonably full, theBs}cpiDq ' supervisor shall be responsible for double -bagging the <br />contents ofthe container and transferring the plastic bag totheU@40-storage area for <br />infectious waste.
