Page 4 <br />The transport vehicle will be: <br />1. Cleaned and decontaminated <br />approved disinfectant solution. <br />as often as required, using an <br />2. So constructed as to provide damage resisttnt access and a <br />driver's compartment that is a sealed, separate enclosure. <br />3. Completely enclosed. <br />4. Posted with instructions inside the driver's compartment of <br />the transport vehicle indicating who is to be contacted by <br />telephone in case of accident, spillage, or leakage of infectious <br />waste. <br />5. Transporting the infectious waste only to a facility which <br />has all appropriate and necessary permits and approvals. <br />6. Labeled with the Company name or trademark in a color <br />contrasting with the background so as to be readily legible <br />during daylight hours from a distance of fifty feet, along with <br />the international biohazard symbol and the word "BIOHAZARD". <br />F. INFECTIOUS WASTE DESTRUCTION <br />All infectious waste will be rendered non-infectious at one of <br />Bingham's regional treatment facilities, by either incineration <br />or steam sterilization. Infectious waste treated by incineration <br />will be in a controlled air multi-chamber incinerator providing <br />complete combustion of the waste to carbonized or mineralized <br />ash. Infectious waste treated by steam sterilization will be <br />exposed to a temperature of not less than 121°C (250°F) for one- <br />half hour or longer. The treated waste resulting from either <br />method will then be disposed of as non -hazardous w - aste. <br />All contaminated infectious waste containers are sanitized after <br />each use using one or more of the following methods: <br />1. Exposure to hot water o.f at least 82 C (180 F) for a <br />minimum of 15 seconds. <br />2. Exposure to chemical sanitizer by rinsing with or immersion <br />in one of the following for a minimum of three minutes: <br />A. Hypochlorite solution (500 ppm available chlorine). <br />B. Phenolic solution (500 ppm active agent). . <br />C. Iodoform solution (100 ppm available iodine). <br />D. Quaternary ammonium solution (400 ppm active agent <br />approved by the Department). <br />0 <br />
