' <br /> ADDENDUM A <br /> 11J635-0WahmmardousWaste <br /> Waste containing discarded materials contaminated with excretion,exudate,orsecretions from humans <br /> or animals that are required to be isolated by the infection control staff, the attending physician and <br /> surgeon,the attending veterinarian,or the local health officer,to protect others from highly <br /> communicable diseases or diseases of animals that are highly communicable to humans. <br /> 118295-Wash and Decontaminate Containers <br /> A person shall thoroughly wash and decontaminate reusable rigid containers for medical waste by a <br /> method approved by the enforcement agency each time they are emptied, unless the surfaces of the <br /> containers have been completely protected from contamination by disposable liners, bags,or other <br /> devices removed with the waste.These containers shall be maintained in a clean and sanitary manner. <br /> Approved methods of decontamination include, but are not limited to, agitation to remove visible soil <br /> combined with one ofthe following procedures: <br /> (a) Exposure to hot water of at least 82 degrees Centigrade (180 degrees Fahrenheit)for a minimum of <br /> 15 seconds. <br /> (b) Exposure to chemical sanitizer by rinsing with,or immersion in,one of the following for a minimum <br /> qfthree minutes:January 2OO745 <br /> (1) Hypochlorite solution(SO0ppm available ch|orine). <br /> (2) Phenolic solution(SOQppm,active agent). <br /> (3) kodmfonnsolution (100 ppm available iodine). <br /> N\Quaternary ammonium solution M0Oppm active agent). <br />
