Hands must be washed as soon as practical after an exposure to blood. <br /> 2. As all residents' blood and body fluids are considered potentially infectious, all <br /> exposures to blood/body fluids must be reported to the infection Control Coordinator(or <br /> designee)or supervisor. <br /> 3. Plastic bag (Note: ira red bub it: not axed, a "biohazard" label must be affixed to the <br /> bag), <br /> 7. Forceps,tongs,or brush and dustpan(as applicable if picking up broken glass); <br /> 8. Personal protective equipment(e.g.,gowns,glover,musk,ctc.,its needed);and <br /> 9. Other as appropriate or as may be needed. <br /> Infection Control 1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and wulcr at the following intervals: <br /> Protocol and Safety a. Before the procedure. <br /> b. Before resuming the procedure after an interruption (i.e., assisting another rcsidrrlt, <br /> toileting,answering the phone,etc.),- <br /> c. <br /> tc.);c. Anytime they become soiled with blood or body fluids; <br /> d. When changing/rcmoving glovc9 or any personal protective equipment; <br /> c. Whenever in doubt;and <br /> f. Upon completion of your task or procedure. <br /> 2. Wear appropriatc personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, (sown, mask, eyewear, <br /> etc.,as nccessaly) to prevent exposure to spills or splashes of blood or other potentially <br /> infectious rnattcrials. <br /> 3. Maintain cietul technique and isolation precautions as indicated. <br /> 4.
