ARBOR CONVALESCENT HOSPITAL <br /> . Written Procedures for Patients with Communicable Disease <br /> In case of suspected communicable disease occuring at <br /> Arbor Convalescent Hospital, the nurse in charge will do the <br /> following: <br /> 1 ® Report the case to physician in charge of patient® <br /> 2® Report the case to the Director of Nursing. <br /> Initiating Isolation - Patients may be placed in isolation <br /> at the direction of the patients attending physician or his <br /> designated representitive® The nursing supervisor or charge <br /> nurse may initiate isolation, The attending physician shall <br /> be notified at the earliest possible opportunity. Patients <br /> who are suspected of having a communicable disease or infection <br /> shall be placed in isolation until communicability is ruled <br /> out® Isolation techniques to be used are determined by the <br /> disease entity and its mode of transmission, These tech- <br /> niques will be outlined in the following pages® <br /> Suspected communicable disease cases shall be reported <br /> to "District Health Officer", San Joaquin Local Health Districtv <br /> PO Box 2009, Stockton A® (209) 4666781 , and Confidential <br /> Morbidity Report will be completed® <br /> The following procedures will be followed when the occur- <br /> ance of an infectious disease is confirmed in the facility: <br /> Pertinent information relating to the infectious <br /> disease case will be gathered by the Nursing Director® <br /> 2® A review of the infectious disease case will be made <br /> by the Nursing Director to ensure proper procedures <br /> are being followed by all departments. <br /> 3® Diseases or entities not covered by the policies and <br /> procedures established by the Infection Control Com- <br /> mittee will be reported to the Nursing Director® If <br /> warranted, an emvrgency meeting of the Infection <br />
