Keep soiled items from touching your clothing. <br /> d. Clean up spills with regular disinfectants or bleach. Follow manufacturer's <br /> recommendations for appropriate use. <br /> e. If practical, clean up spills and splashes with paper towels, <br /> f. Clean up the blood or body fluid spill first. <br /> g° After cleaning up the blood or body fluid, decontaminate the spill/splash area <br /> With a disinfectant. <br /> WASTE DISPOSAL <br /> 1. Red bag all disposable gloves, gowns, masks, paper towels, shoe coverings, dressings, <br /> etc., or place such items into a pun nt bag and place a BIORAZARD label <br /> on the bag. <br /> 2. Double bag if the outside of the bag is contaminated with blood or body fluids, or if <br /> there is a possibility the bag will leak. <br /> 3. Remove the waste from the room and store it in the utility room or take it to the waste <br /> disposal area for proper disposal or incineration. <br /> 4. Pour fluids down the commode or janitorial sink. Flush the commode and/or rinse the <br /> janitorial sink. <br /> 5. Discard reusable items into appropriate containers. Red bag all reusable items soiled <br /> with blood or body fluids that contain visible blood or place such items into a puncture- <br /> resisWt bag and place a BIOHAZARD label on the bag. Double bag if the outside of <br /> the bag is contaminated with blood or body fluids, or if there is a possibility the bag will <br /> leak. <br />
