This area shall be marked with warning <br /> signs. The wording of the warning shall say in English"CAUTION- BIOHAZARDOUS <br /> WASTE STORAGE A- UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT" and in <br /> Spanish "CUIDADO ZONA DE RESIDUOS BIOLOGICOS PELIGROSOS <br /> PROHIBDA LA E� ADA A PERSONAS NO AUTOR.IZADAS". The biohazardous <br /> waste bags and filled sharps containers shall not be stored for more than 7 days at a <br /> temperature above 32 degrees Fahrenheit. This 7 day period begins when any waste has <br /> been placed in the container. <br /> 2. All reusable rigid containers that are used for accumulation, transportation and storage <br /> of medical waste shall be washed and decontaminated after a maximum of 7 days or <br /> less if visible soiled. The approved method for decontamination is manual agitation to <br /> remove visible soil using an approved solution. The solution shall be allowed to cover <br /> the surface for a minimum of 3 minutes. The amount of solution mixed shall be nor <br /> more than may be used at any one time. <br /> E. Emergency Action Plan <br /> While it is highly unlikely that the Biohazards Waste Contractor would experience a shutdown <br /> of operations, contingencies include retention of medical waste for not more than 7 days from <br /> point of generation above 32 degrees Fahrenheit or after 7 days use of an alternate Biohazardous <br /> Waste Contractor. Another contingency for less well defined emergency situations would be to <br /> contact the Department of Health Services, Medical Waste Program at (916) 327-6904 for <br /> guidance. <br /> F. Medical Waste Contractor <br /> 1. BFI Medical Waste Systems, 9719 Lincoln Village Drive, Suite 501, Sacramento, <br /> California, 95827, telephone number(916) 364-8872, Transporter Registration Number <br /> 2113, is the authorized contractor for the removal, transportation and treatment of <br /> medical waste generated by Deuel Vocational Institution. <br /> G. At the Conclusion of Each Service Call, Medical Waste Contractor Shall: <br /> 1. Remove all medical wastes according to the scheduled time frame specified under <br /> "Transportation of Medical Waste to Disposal Area". <br /> 2. Clean and disinfect each storage bin, locker and/or area; maintain designated medical <br /> waste sites free of medical waste spills and any debris related to the pickup of medical <br /> waste. <br /> 3. Inspect all designated medical waste containers to ensure compliance with HSC, Article <br /> 8, commencing with Section 25080. The institution will conduct periodic inspection of <br /> the storage bins and lockers and its immediate area. Contractor shall immediately <br /> correct all insanitary conditions or deficiencies as noted by institution inspections. <br /> 4. Provide a completed medical waste tracking document at the time of each pick-up, <br /> pursuant to HSC, Article 6, Section 25063. The document shall be properly executed, <br /> signed and dated by the Senior NITA or designee and the waste hauler at each of the <br /> institution locations. Only the Senior -NITA or designee shall review and sign the <br /> original manifest (for billing authorization)prior to shipment of medical waste. Within <br /> fifteen (15) calendar days after medical waste pick up, a copy of the manifest with the <br /> disposal site information section completed shall be furnished to the Senior MTA or <br />
