This area shall be marked with warning <br /> signs. The wording of the warning shall say in English"CAUTION-BIOHAZARDOUS <br /> WASTE STORAGE A- UNAUTHORIZED PERSONS KEEP OUT' and in <br /> Spanish "CUIDADO ZONA DE RESIDUOS BIOLOGICOS PELIGROSOS <br /> PROHIBDA LA ENTRADA A PERSONAS NO AUTORIZADAS". The biohazardous <br /> waste bags and filled sharps containers shall not be stored for more than 7 days at a <br /> temperature above 32 degrees Fahrenheit. This 7 day period begins when any waste has <br /> been placed in the container. <br /> 2. All reusable rigid containers that are used for accumulation, transportation and storage <br /> of medical waste shall be washed and decontaminated after a maximum of 7 days or less <br /> if visible soiled. The approved method for decontamination is manual agitation to <br /> remove visible soil using an approved solution. The solution shall be allowed to cover <br /> the surface for a minimum of 3 minutes. The amount of solution mixed shall be nor <br /> more than maybe used at any one time. <br /> E. Emergency Action Plan <br /> While it is highly unlikely that the Biohazards Waste Contractor would experience a shutdown of <br /> operations,contingencies include retention of medical waste for not more than 7 days from point <br /> of generation above 32 degrees Fahrenheit or after 7 days use of an alternate Biohazardous Waste <br /> Contractor. Another contingency for less well defined emergency situations would be to contact <br /> the Department of Health Services,Medical Waste Program at(916)327-6904 for guidance. <br /> F.
