F. Procedure for Releasing Regulated Medical Waste to the Medical Waste <br /> Contractor <br /> 1. Prior to signing a manifest, every shipping container must be inspected. See <br /> Attachment II for information on resolving issues relating to container <br /> packing. <br /> 2. Check the boxes to ensure that each is properly sealed and labeled with an <br /> appropriate RMW contractor label. Inspect the containers as described <br /> above. <br /> 3. Review the manifest to ensure that all containers are listed and the <br /> container count is accurate. <br /> 4. Review all fields on the manifest, provided by the RMW contractor, prior to <br /> signing. Should any information be missing from the manifest, discuss the <br /> missing information with the contractor and ensure corrections are made <br /> (Attachment III). <br /> 5. A copy of the RMW manifest is maintained according to System <br /> requirements and/or state or local requirements. Copies of the final signed <br /> manifests are also made available online through the vendor. <br /> 6. Reconcile original copy against returned copy signed by"Treatment <br /> Facility." This copy may be mailed to the American Red Cross location or <br /> uploaded to vendor manifest management website. <br /> 7. Notify Safety and disposal vendor if a copy signed by the Treatment <br /> Facility is not returned to generator. <br /> 8. Safety will notify the appropriate state authority if a copy of signed <br /> Treatment Facility manifest is not returned to the generator. <br /> 9. Maintain both copies of each manifest for a period of 3 years, unless <br /> State/local requires longer retention. <br /> 10.Manifests may need to be maintained longer than time specified above if <br /> shipment contains tracked waste (see applicable System procedure), is <br /> involved in unresolved enforcement action or as requested by a <br /> government agency. <br /> G. Governmental Reports Relating to Regulated Medical Waste <br /> All reports relating to regulated medical waste shall be submitted as required <br /> by law by the appropriate deadlines.
