Delta Blood Bank <br /> Medical Waste Management Plan (New 1/02) Page I of 2 <br /> 1100.0 DELTA BLOOD BANK'S MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> 110LOThis plan outlines the accumulation, storage, and removal of medical waste <br /> generated by Delta Blood Bank <br /> 1101.1This facility is located at 2888 West March Lane Stockton, CA. <br /> 1101.2This facility, a large quantity generator, generates approximately 425 <br /> pounds of medical waste in one month. <br /> 1101.3Medical Waste generated at this facility consists of sharps waste and <br /> material contaminated with blood. Medical waste does not include paper <br /> towels, paper products, articles containing nonfluid blood and other <br /> medical solid waste products commonly found in the facilities of medical <br /> waste generators). <br /> 1101 AMedical waste generated at this facility is removed by a registered <br /> hazardous waste hauler service, Stericycle. <br /> 1101.5Delta Blood Bank is not a medical waste treatment facility. <br /> 1102.OThis section defines how medical waste is segregated, contained, and labeled at <br /> this facility. <br /> 1102.1 Sharps devices, such as lancets or needles, are placed into approved sharps <br /> containers immediately after use. These sharps containers when full are <br /> placed in rigid containers that are lined with two red biohazardous bags. <br /> 1102.2When full, the biohazardous bags are tied to prevent leakage or expulsion <br /> of contents during future storage,handling, or transport2. <br /> 1102.3Other material contaminated with blood are placed directly into the rigid <br /> containers lined with red biohazardous bags. <br /> 1102AThe rigid containers, a puncture proof tote or containers provided by <br /> biohazardous waste hauler, are labeled with the words "Biohazardous <br /> Waste" or with the international biohazard symbol and the word <br /> "Biohazard" on the lid and on the sides so as to be visible from any lateral <br /> direction 3.
