0 0 <br /> Medical Waste Management Plan (con's) <br /> Integrated Pathology Services Corporation. <br /> Medical Waste Segregation, Containment, Labeling, and Collection Procedures: (con't) <br /> All sharps will be placed in a sharps container labeled with the words"SHARPS WASTE" <br /> or with the international biohazard symbol and the word"BIOHAZARD." Sharps containers will <br /> be rigid puncture proof containers that when sealed are leak resistant and are not able to be <br /> reopened without great difficulty. Sharps containers shall be considered"full" when they reach <br /> 2/3 capacity or the manufacturer's full line. Lids on filled sharps containers must be snapped <br /> closed, taped, or otherwise sealed to prevent lose of contents prior to disposal. All biohazardous <br /> and sharps waste will be placed in the biohazard barrels in the processor room. These barrels <br /> shall not be loaded over 40 pounds. Pathology slides to be disposed of will be placed in the <br /> smaller containers and only loaded to 25 pounds. <br /> Pathology Waste <br /> All pathology waste be drained of all hazardous wastes (fixatives). Waste will be placed in <br /> a red bag then in to an additional bag "double bagging" of all pathology waste is mandatary. This <br /> double bagged pathology waste will then be placed in to a biohazardous container for transport by <br /> Integrated Environmental Systems of Oakland CA. (IES) a licenced medical waste hauler, <br /> Will pick up all bioharzardous material for disposal at their approved incinerator facility. <br /> Integrated Pathology Services accepts no medical waste from any other facility. <br /> Medical Waste Storage Methods <br /> All medical waste will be collected and stored in the processor room in designated <br /> containers. These containers meet the specifications set forth in the"Medical Waste Management <br /> Act" (MWMA). The room has been posted with signs iaw the MWMA. Medical and <br /> biohazardous waste will not be stored for more than 7 days. See section 118280 (B). All <br /> containers used by IPS are supplied pre-cleaned by IES on the date of pick up. <br /> Medical Waste Disposal Method <br /> IES picks up the all full containers from IPS on Wednesday of each week mid to late AM. <br /> Emergency Action Plan <br /> Spill of Medical Waste fluids will be de-contaminated with a 10%bleach and water <br /> solution for a five (5) minutes, then cleaned up with paper towels which then become medical <br /> waste, and disposed of as such. <br />
