Encircle spill by pouring Spill XFP or Spill XS around the spill perimeter. <br /> 2. Cover the spill evenly with the spill agent working inward.Take care to avoid splashing <br /> 3. Polymerization and solidification should occur within 15 minutes. <br /> 4. Clean up the solidified waste by putting it inside a sturdy bag then placed in the designated solid waste drum <br /> 5. Refer to the MSDS binder located in the cytoprep area for first aid and other information regarding the spill <br /> agent. <br /> VI. CONTINGENCY PLAN/EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN: <br /> 1. In the event of disruption of service due to unforeseen circumstances(natural disasters,equipment <br /> failure,etc.),all non-essential medical waste generating activities will be suspended immediately. <br /> Spills and other related emergencies will be coordinated by Delta Pathology with the local city and <br /> county emergency response teams. <br /> 2. TRAINING: <br /> 1. Training is provided upon hire regarding proper handling of biohazard medical waste and other <br /> hazardous materials,and is performed before the employee assumes duties that involve handling of <br /> medical waste as required by law.Records are maintained at Delta Pathology and kept at the Safety <br /> Manual binder. <br /> 2. Bloodborne Pathogens training is required for each employee with potential exposure to infectious <br /> agents.Initial training is done upon hiring and refresher training is provided on an annual basis.All <br /> training records are maintained for a minimum of 3 years. <br /> VII.
