L] 13. 1. Policy It is the policy of Sodexo Laundry Stockton to process and handle all soiled linen in a safe and sanitary environment. 13.2. Procedures • Driver wears puncture -resistant gloves at all times when handling soiled linen carts. • Driver unloads carts onto loading dock. Driver insures that each cart is labeled with facility name. • Soil Scale Operator wears puncture -resistant gloves at all times when handling soiled linen carts. • Soil Scale Operator weighs soil cart. Records weights using computer print out. • Soil linen cart is placed in receiving area. • Soil carts are flagged and staged awaiting dumping and sorting. • All soil room personnel will wear appropriate protective clothing. • Soil Sort Procedures • Cart dumper notifies soil belt attendants when a new account is starting. • Attendant ensures that there are an adequate number of carts for sorting. • Cart dumper loads the cart into the cart dumping machine and activates the dumper taking care not to jog the machine and create undue stress on the equipment. The cart dumper uses a metal pole to free bags that are stuck in the cart. • The cart dumper tears open bags of linen. • Cart dumper discharges linen onto the conveyor and discards the plastic bag into waste container. • The soil sort attendants sort by item type, placing soiled items in the appropriate bin. • The soil sort attendant pushes button to release contents of bins once it has reached the required weight limit. • Attendant marks each sling with a color -coded mesh bag to designate each account. • Attendant repeats step until complete sorting of each client is finished. • No one working in the Soil Sort may go to other areas of the plant without removing their protective equipment. 13.3.
