i
Benjamin Escotto [EH]
From: Benjamin Escotto [EH]
Sent: Monday, June 13, 2011 10:43 AM
To: 'Lynn.Dunn ing@Sodexo.com'
Subject: Medical Waste Inspection
Attachments: 20110613101624299. pdf
Dear Lynn,
1* Page 1 of 1
This is Ben Escotto with the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department. I have attached the sheet
that describes the different types of medical waste and the containers they should go into. Also I did not receive
the Infection Control Policy and Procedure. Please email it again when you get a chance. I also reviewed your
Medical Waste Management Plan (MWMP) and would like the following additions/changes:
1. On page 2, check off the different types of wastes your facility accumulates (pharmaceuticals, lab wastes,
blood or body fluids, sharps, and isolation wastes).
2. On page 2, change the answer to question #3 to no. Your facility is not a common storage facility.
Common storage
facilities are, for example, medical/dental offices in one building that store their combined waste into one
area.
3. On page 5, change the answer to question 1 b to yes. Your facility does accumulate pharmaceutical waste
as shown on
your treatment and tracking records.
4. On page 5, answer the bottom two questions relating to pharmaceutical waste. For the question that asks
the type of
pharmaceutical waste, you can just list them all. For the monthly amount question, do your best to get an
estimate based on the treatment and tracking records.
5. As stated above, I need the Infection Control Policy and Procedure to supplement your answers to 3i an 3j
on p.7.
If you have any questions you can email me at bescotto@sicehd.com or call me at (209) 468-3178. Thanks.
Ben Escotto
REHS
6/13/2011
