California Health &Safety Code: Medical Waste Management Act Sections <br /> 117600- 118360 <br /> 1.0 INTRODUCTION: <br /> This plan is written in accordance to the Cal/OSHA Medical Waste <br /> Management Act. The following plan has been developed by American <br /> Medical Response (AMR) Safety and Risk Management (SRM) Department <br /> and your local Operations foryour awareness and safety. <br /> Operations Manager will be responsible for implementation of this plan. <br /> 2.0 PURPOSE: <br /> To eliminate or minimize employee occupational exposure to blood and /or <br /> Other Potentially Infected Materials and to comply with the Cal/OSHA <br /> Medical Waste Management Act Sections 117600-118360. <br /> 3.0 FACILITY IDENTIFICATION: <br /> 3.1 AMR Operations of San Joaquin County has been identified as a small <br /> Quantity Generator of Infectious Waste/Medical Waste and has a <br /> responsibility for filing with the San Joaquin County Environmental <br /> Health Department; this Medical Waste Management Plan <br /> 4.0 IMPLEMENTATION METHODS: <br /> 4.1 Cal/OSHA also requires that this plan include the methods of implementation for <br /> the various requirements of the standard. Universal precautions will be observed at <br /> AMRin orderto prevent contact with blood or Other Potentially Infectious Materials <br /> (OPIM). All blood and OPIM will be considered infectious regardless of the <br /> perceived status of the source individual. <br />
