These records shall be kept for 3 years. The records shall include the following: <br /> ® Tracking Forms/ Pick-up tags <br /> 11.0 PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING RECOGNIZABLE HUMAN REMAINS, <br /> 11.1 AMR does not handle any recognizable Human Remains. The San Joaquin County <br /> Coroner will handle any human remains encountered at the scene of an accident or <br /> incident. <br /> 12.0 WASTE HANDLING AND STORAGE: <br /> 12.1 Engineering and work practice controls will be utilized to eliminate or minimize <br /> exposure to employees at AMR. Where occupational exposure remains after <br /> implementation of these controls, Personal Protective Equipment(PPE) shall be <br /> used. At AMR, the following engineering controls will be utilized: <br /> 12.2 Soiled first-aid equipment and bandages will be placed into red bags marked <br /> "Biohazard". <br /> 12.3 Expired Drugs can be sent to the EMS training facility orto AMR's Training <br /> Operations (NCTI) for use.All expired drugs not accepted by a training institution will <br /> be recycled. Expired Narcotics will be disposed of by approved DOJ standards. <br /> 12.4 Biohazard bags and sharps containers will be stored in approved drums with the <br /> required labels and stored in the secured Biohazard Waste Area for pick-up by the <br /> Materials Coordinator and disposal by Sacramento Bay Medical Waste Inc. <br /> Approved signage will be on or adjacent to the exterior of the entry doors, on entry <br /> doors, gates or lids. The signs will be in both English and Spanish. <br /> 12.5 The controls will be examined and maintained or replaced on a regular <br /> schedule. The schedule for reviewing the effectiveness of the controls will be to <br /> inspect the Biohazard Waste Area on a monthly inspection schedule. Inspection <br /> logs are kept in the Operations Department. <br /> 12.6 Hand washing facilities shall be made available to the employees who handle <br /> blood or other potentially infectious materials. Cal/OSHA requires that these <br /> facilities be readily accessible after incurring an exposure. AMR employees who <br /> come into contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials must wash <br /> their hands ilmnediately after exposure. If an employee is exposed to Infectious <br /> Wastes,they will immediately be taken to the closest treatment facility for an <br /> evaluation by a physician.The AMR exposure paperwork will be completed aswell <br /> as a Worker Compensation report form. <br /> 12.7 The employee will attend any follow-up sessions, check-up or other treatment as <br /> necessity. The on-duty Supervisor will complete a"Supervisor's Investigation <br /> Report", fax it to SRM and forward a copy to the Operations Managerforfollow- <br /> up. <br />
